Savage isn’t just the name of her lingerie line; Rihanna is going after her father in court for using her Fenty brand and his relationship to her to launch a business for him. In the lawsuit, Rihanna claims that her father, Ronald Fenty, started a talent development company in 2017 called Fenty Entertainment. Rihanna has already trademarked Fenty for a number of her own (very successful) business ventures such as her clothing and makeup lines.
The singer claims that her father is profiting off of her hard work to make Fenty brand recognizable.
Lest you thought that it was just a name thing, Rihanna is claiming that her father and his business partner also falsely advertised themselves as her representatives to solicit millions of dollars and even attempted to book her for shows in Latin American to the tune of $15 million. She also claimed that he tried to filed a trademark for Fenty to use for resort boutique hotels. Rihanna says that she did not agree to any of this.
She also claims that she has sent multiple cease and desist letters to her father to no success. He ignores them and continues to make money off of Fenty entertainment. This is the last straw as Rihanna asks a judge to place an injunction on her father and his use of the name Fenty. She is also seeking damages.
