A principal at a New Haven, Connecticut charter school has officially resigned from his position after being caught on a surveillance video using physical force to push a student up against a wall in October 2018.

Though the incident occurred months ago, Morgan Barth decided to resign from his post on Thursday, January 17th after the video of the incident was posted online. The incident occured after a meeting with the student. In the video, Barth and the student exit a room and Barth shoves the student up against a wall. Barth was disciplined after the incident and the school decided to seek a replacement.

The school’s communication director said, “It’s clear that he could not be the leader of the school right now, given his actions and the feelings of the school community. I think both of those things became clear to him.”
