Chicago PD Looking For Suspects In Jussie Smollett Attack

Chicago police have located a surveillance camera that shows potential persons of interest who are wanted for questioning in connection with the heinous attack on Empire actor Jussie Smollett. They have released photos of two dark figures who were seen on video near the scene of the attack. According to Chicago PD Chief Communications Officer, Anthony Guglielmi,

“While video does not capture an encounter, detectives are taking this development seriously & wish to question individuals as more cameras are being reviewed.”

Smollett was attacked on Tuesday (1/29/19) after leaving a restaurant in the early morning hours. According to police reports, two suspects approached Smollett, yelling racial and homophobic slurs at him before they began punching him, pouring chemicals on him, and tying a rope around his neck. Allegedly they also screamed, ‘This is MAGA country.’ Both males were wearing black clothing and one was wearing a black mask.

Smollett has been hospitalized for his injuries. The incident is being investigated as a possible hate crime.
